What’s YOUR Poverty?

Image

I bargained with Life for a penny,
And Life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store;
For Life is a just employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.
I worked for a menial’s hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have paid.

~Jessie Belle Rittenhouse (1869–1948)

What are you poor in?  Money, time, love, health…friendship?  Now that you’ve answered that question…what are you going to do about it?

You are really two people; the person you are today and the person you dream of being…  Self-actualization is the highest human need (assuming our basic needs of shelter, food, and sleep are being met).  Did you know that only about 2% of the world’s population is self-actualized?  Those are the select few that have consciously and proactively taken control of their lives.

So, what sets that 2% apart from the rest of the world’s population?  Determination.  Refusing to lay down and give their life over to random circumstances.  One of the major causes of depression is due to settling for a life that one isn’t happy with…or, in other words, suppressing one’s truth.

When are you going to get out of your own way?  Banish your limiting beliefs? Take the steps to realize your true potential?  What’s stopping you?

Not sure where to begin?  Here’s an awesome link that gives you a good breakdown of how to plan your strategy for self-actualization…courtesy of Jason E. Gillikin.

I realize I am in my own way, but once something is done, the damage can be difficult to overcome. *sigh*

I know what you mean….those old ghosts are often hard to get rid of.
